The design of this brooch is based on a Scottish targe (shield). It is decorated with a cross containing interlace knotwork and interspersed bosses. The reverse is set with a hinged steel pin and is marked ‘RA’ for Robert Allison, sterling silver, Glasgow and the Gothic ‘A’ date letter for 1946.
