A sgian dubh displaying a carved wooden basketweave and Celtic knotwork handle with a silver engraved zig-zag decorative mount to the base and pin-top pommel. The leather covered wooden scabbard is decorated with finely engraved Celtic knotwork shield-shaped mounts, the upper with a vacant cartouche (could be engraved). The reverse has been stamped with the maker’s mark ‘JA’.

Note: As the mounts likely fall below the legal weight to necessitate hallmarking, it is not surprising to see this piece unmarked.
