A Scottish silver Young clan badge by Medlock & Craik, Inverness, 1954

The  badge displays a circular belted garter enclosing the engraved motto ‘ROBERE PRUDENTIA PRAESTAT’, translated as ‘Prudence Excels Strength’, while the crest within shows a demi lion rampant holding a sword aloft for clan Young. The reverse has a hinged steel pin and is hallmarked ‘M&C’, ‘INVSS’, Edinburgh, sterling silver, 1954.
