The badge is formed of a circular belted garter enclosing the motto ‘MEMENTO CREATOREM’, translated as ‘Remember the Creator’, while the crest within shows a stag for clan Keith. The reverse has a hinged steel pin and is marked ‘McK&Coy’ for the makers McKenzie & Company and ‘INS’ for Inverness.
