A flat, silver, oval-shaped scarf ring decorated with shades of blue and grey enamels to resemble a fossil, possibly an ammonite. The reverse is stamped ‘JS’ for Jane Short and is hallmarked sterling silver, London, 1982.
Jane Short is a renowned enameller with expertise in applying her colour to both jewellery and silverware which she has been doing since the 1970s. Her work can be found in several public collections including the National Museums Scotland, the Victoria and Albert Museum, London, the Fitzwilliam Museum, Cambridge, and the Ashmolean Museum, Oxford.
