An elegant silver brooch in the style of a Eurasian jay’s feather, decorated with shades of blue and white enamel together with silver detailing. The reverse has a hinged steel pin and c-scroll safety catch and is stamped with a conjoined 'JS' for Jane Short. The item was purchased in 1993 and comes with a copy of the Oxford Gallery receipt.
Jane Short is a renowned enameller with expertise in applying her colour to both jewellery and silverware which she has been doing since the 1970s. Her work can be found in several public collections including the National Museums Scotland, the Victoria and Albert Museum, London, the Fitzwilliam Museum, Cambridge, and the Ashmolean Museum, Oxford.
