These pointed oval-shaped earrings are set with a deep blue enamel that has a very subtle squiggle pattern to the surface. The reverse has been stamped with ‘ME’ for Maureen Edgar and hallmarks for Edinburgh Assay Office and sterling silver (no date letter).

Maureen Edgar is one of Britain’s most eminent enamellers. Born in Duns, the Scottish Borders, she attended Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art in Dundee, followed by the Royal College of Art in London during the late 1970s, before returning to her native Berwickshire. Her work can be viewed in Aberdeen Art Gallery, the National Museums Scotland and the Worshipful Company of Goldsmiths’ where she was invested as a Freeman in 1989.
