Silver and enamel ‘crocodile’ brooch by Jane Moore, Leamington Spa, hallmarked London, 1992

A long, satin-finished, silver rectangular brooch with ends that subtly curve to the back, displaying a vibrantly enamelled crocodile in colours of blue, turquoise, orange, purple and black. The reverse has a hinged steel pin and c-scroll safety catch and is stamped 'JLB' for Jane Louise Birks (her maiden name) with hallmarks for London, 1992. The item was purchased in 1992 and comes with the original Oxford Gallery receipt.

Jane Moore is a highly innovative, expert jeweller and enameller. Her career began in the 1970s after qualifying from Loughborough College of Art and Design in Silversmithing and Jewellery. In 2006, Moore’s mastery of colour led to her being presented with the prestigious Kayman Award from the National Association of Jewellers - https://www.janemoore.co.uk.
