Silver and enamel ‘creature’ brooch by Jane Moore, Leamington Spa, hallmarked London, 1992

A square, satin-finished, silver brooch with sides that subtly curve to the back, displaying a vibrantly enamelled creature in colours of blue, turquoise, green, orange, yellow and purple. The reverse has a hinged steel pin and c-scroll safety catch and is stamped 'JLB' for Jane Louise Birks (her maiden name) with hallmarks for sterling silver, London, 1992. The item was purchased in 1993 and comes with the original Oxford Gallery receipt.

Jane Moore is a highly innovative, expert jeweller and enameller. Her career began in the 1970s after qualifying from Loughborough College of Art and Design in Silversmithing and Jewellery. In 2006, Moore’s mastery of colour led to her being presented with the prestigious Kayman Award from the National Association of Jewellers - https://www.janemoore.co.uk.
