A silver and enamel brooch of thin oval shape, almost representing a stylised leaf, decorated with white and green enamel together with gilt decoration and gold detailing. The reverse has a hinged steel pin and c-scroll safety catch and is stamped 'JS' for Jane Short, together with hallmarks for London, 1986. The item was purchased in 1986 and comes with the original Oxford Gallery receipt.
Jane Short is a renowned enameller with expertise in applying her colour to both jewellery and silverware which she has been doing since the 1970s. Her work can be found in several public collections including the National Museums Scotland, the Victoria and Albert Museum, London, the Fitzwilliam Museum, Cambridge, and the Ashmolean Museum, Oxford.
