Enamel ‘hare’ panel brooch by Jane Short, Brighton, c.1993

An oval shaped panel brooch engraved with a hare to a shaded yellow-orange enamel ground in an engraved border. The reverse has a hinged steel pin and c-scroll safety catch and is signed in script 'JS' for Jane Short. The item was purchased in 1993 and comes with the original Oxford Gallery receipt.

Jane Short is a renowned enameller with expertise in applying her colour to both jewellery and silverware which she has been doing since the 1970s. Her work can be found in several public collections including the National Museums Scotland, the Victoria and Albert Museum, London, the Fitzwilliam Museum, Cambridge, and the Ashmolean Museum, Oxford.
